Even The Gods Approve: Lightning Bolt Strikes As Usain Bolt Clinches Gold At Moscow 2013 

As Usain Bolt crossed the finish line at the 2013 IAAF Championships in Moscow, a bolt lightning seared the sky, confirming that even Zeus approved of Bolt as the fastest man ever.

Bolt regained his 100-meter world title and won his fourth World championships gold with a time of 9.77 seconds, sprinting past Justin Gatlin with a late burst. Gatlin was second in 9.85. Nesta Carter of Jamaica was third in 9.95.

Rain soaked the track and Bolt said he was not at his best, yet he managed to match his eighth-best time.

“I am happy but I wanted to do better,” he said (via BBC Sport). “My legs were sore after the semifinals, I don’t know why, but the world record wasn’t on so I came out just to win.

“Back in Jamaica, they do not expect less than that from me. They always expect me to dominate!”
As for that image, photographer Olivier Morin called it “pure luck” and was not happy with the image because of Bolt’s passive reaction — until he saw the lightning strike.

“At this moment when I saw the lightning, I thought it’s kind of special photo,” Morin said. “A good photo. But I underestimated the reaction of this picture.”

A three-month-old baby boy bursts into flame without any external source of ignition

A three-month-old baby boy is recovering in hospital after allegedly spontaneously catching fire - for the fourth time.

Rahul, was admitted for treatment of ten degree burns at an intensive care unit in Chennai, India last week, and doctors at the hospital say he suffers from 'spontaneous human combustion'.

Medical staff alleges that - for the fourth time in his short life - Rahul has burst into flames with no external source of ignition.

According to doctors Rahul may have caught fire due to the excretion of gases through his skin, which has led to him suffering burns on his chest and head.

‘The baby is stable and treatment is on for burn injuries and scars. Life-saving support systems are there for Rahul in the intensive care unit,’ said R. Narayana Babu, head of paediatrics at the hospital.

the baby is still under observation and may be discharged after two weeks depending on his condition.

Outrage Over Adeboye’s 3-km Long Church Auditorium-PM News, Lagos

The announcement last Saturday that the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, would build a three kilometre long auditorium in Nigeria has triggered outrage among Nigerians who call the humongous investment a waste and another cofirmation that Nigerian churches are veering off the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, announced during the Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption Camp in Mowe area of Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, that the existing auditorium which was built in 2000 with a capacity to sit one million people at once could
no longer accommodate millions of people who attend service there.
Adeboye said that the new auditorium which would be built at the mission’s camp ground at km 46, Lagos-Ibadan expressway would also be three kilometres wide. This will make the auditorium a humongous 9km square auditorium, and one of the top ten churches in the world in
area size.
The Holy Ghost Service was one of the programmes lined up for the 61st Annual Convention of the church and Adeboye promised that the project will start soonest and will be completed before the 62nd Convention in August 2014. He solicited for donations from members toward making the project a reality.
But not long after the announcement was made public on www.pmnewsnigeria.com that Nigerians reacted angrily on social media with many describing churches in the country as business centres.
According to Lookman, Adeboye should rather build a three-kilometre farm land and employ a million unemployed youths in Nigeria instead of wasting money on a building.
“So what impact will this have on the common man? More queues on Lagos-Ibadan Express Way, making life unbearable for travellers on Lagos-Ibadan route whenever programmes are going on,” said another reader.
“While I commend such vision, I think the billions of naira that will be used for such project could do the common man good if such is used to build affordable hospitals, schools, scholarships and provide basic needs for the common man,” he added.
According to Godson, Nigerians are hungry and unemployment rate is sky-high but churches are wasting their resources on buildings and other investments rather than tackling poverty.
“Why not use that money to build a non-profit organisation and employ our youths?” Godson queried.
To Naubiko, despite constant prayers, deliverance services and vigils in these big churches, Nigeria remains stuck in darkness and corruption.
“If they like, they should convert the whole of Oyo State and Ogun State to church there’s still nothing to show for it . No light. Even the General Overseer has more bodyguards than government officials and moves about in Helicopter / Private jet,” he said, adding that the road to Adeboye’s church is a death trap.
According to Ade, “building long auditourium means more tithe. For God’s sake these churches can industrialise Nigeria!”
To Moses, Ngeria needs job and not competing in being among the largest church in the world.
“We can see clearly that all the countries that have these large churches are economically stable in terms of infrastructure and job creation , unlike Nigeria that any idea by church only benefits the immediate people at the top . We read about Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,they were all farmers creating jobs for their followers and not people that expand churches,” Moses said. “I have said it time without number that religion is the bane of our country. Remove religion from the affairs of man and there will be peace. I have watched closely some of our colleagues who have been brainwashed to believe that prayers from the so-called men of God is all that is required to be saved,” he said, adding that church followers believe and swallow everything they are told by their pastors.
Mark Yaveli said he would not mind being given the contract for the fencing of the church.

Mosque Raided By Suspected Islamist Militants In Konduga, Borno State - 44 Shot During Prayers

In the latest outbreak of violence in Borno state, outside of Maiduguri, suspected Islamist militants are believed to have assassinated 44 members of the mosque during prayers.

Members of a civilian vigilante group working with the military and a state security service agent reported on Monday that they counted 44 bodies at the scene of the attack. Usman Musa of the civilian group said four of the group's vigilantes were also killed when they responded to calls for help.

The slayings occurred Sunday morning in Konduga town, some 35 kilometers (22 miles) outside Maiduguri, the capital of Nigeria’s Borno state.

Along the way from Maiduguri to Konduga, the civilian activists encountered “fierce resistance from heavily armed terrorists,” Musa said.
The state security agent spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to reporters.

The incident follows two separate gun battles between Nigerian security forces and Boko Haram in Borno last Tuesday, according to a military spokesman in which some 35 people were killed.

A democratic rights activist and former official of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Femi Aborishade, has suggested that Nigerian governors be paid the national minimum wage rate of N18,000 per month in order to discourage corruption in the country.
Mr. Aborishade voiced this position at the congress of the Ogun State chapter of the NCP which took place today in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State. He stated that he had advocated the same idea when he contested as an NCP governorship candidate in 2003. The late Gani Fawehinmi, a lawyer and human rights activist, was once the NCP’s presidential candidate.

The party’s congress showcased its youthful membership, calculated at 60% of the party. Speaking at the congress, the party's national chairman, Yinusa Tanko, declared that the NCP was the only party that has the interest of the masses at heart.
“To contest on the NCP platform, it will cost you no kobo. Our reason is that we do not want you to get into office and loot public funds [with the excuse] that it cost you money to contest,” said Mr. Tanko. He added that the party had won an election in Ekiti State, an indication that the party has the impact and capability to contest and win in Nigeria. He encouraged the youths to take the party as the genuine platform for the welfare of the masses.

The party’s general secretary, Ayodele Akele, who contested the governorship of Lagos State on the party’s ticket, said the fact that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had not de-registered the party should boost the confidence of members.

“Don't be dissuaded. This is the masses’ party. No one can de-register us,” Mr. Akele said. He added that the party was still challenging the power of the INEC to de-register political parties in Nigeria.

A top member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and a former Minister of Nigeria’s federal capital, Nasir el-Rufai, has declared that members of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) fear General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) more than they fear God.
Mr. El-Rufai made the statement while speaking in a radio interview in Kaduna monitored online by SaharaReporters. He said, “They are always in a rush to twist what Buhari said because they are afraid of him. They try to do everything possible to paint the man black and they are not even afraid that one day they will stand before God and account for their action. That is why I said they are more scared of him than they are scared of God because somebody that is scared of the day when he will face God will not do certain things. He will not create a lie and try to make it true. This is why I made that statement. And I think people should be very careful and very wary of whatever the PDP and its media say about General Buhari.”
Mr. El Rufai added that the “PDP has become a virus that is infecting and destroying the country because they are not doing anything productive. They have changed our politics into that of ethnicity and religion to divert attention from their incompetence, lack of capacity and looting of the treasury. It has become a clear and present danger to the existence of Nigeria as a nation and the prosperity of its people.”

In a separate development, SaharaReporters learnt that a group within the APC coalition was pressuring Mr. El-Rufai to run for governorship of his home state of Kaduna in 2015. We could not reach Mr. El-Rufai by phone to ascertain whether he had encouraged party members clamoring for him to run in the governorship race.

A leader of the Boko haram faction that has been in negotiations with the Nigerian government appointed "Amnesty Committee " headed by a government minister yesterday declared that his team carried out the deadly Kano bombings that killed over 40 people in the Sabo-Gari area of the Kano.
The new leader, Mohammed Marwana released an audio message obtained by Saharareporters. Mr. Marwana's assertions in the audio yesterday added a new twist to the controversy surrounding the authenticity of the faction of the islamist militant group in talks with the federal government and recent claims that the old leader of the groups was  deposedafter he was shot.
Speaking in Hausa language, Marwana said the Kano bombings was carried out to prove that he is the authentic leader of the sect because people continue to doubt him and his group of negotiators.
 “I personally instructed the attack in Kano to prove to the world that, I am the real leader of Boko Haram because there have been retrogressive forces on the issue of dialogue, who kept doubting my leadership in the sect. I told them ahead that there will be attack, and it has happened. It is a warning, and we need to say again that we carried out the attacks in Kano”, he said.
 The man who claimed to have been appointed leader of the sect debunked speculations that the globally known leader of the sect, Imam Abubakar Shekau is dead. Marwana stated that Shekau is alive and that nothing has happened to him except that he lost leadership of the sect.
Speaking further in the audio message, he stated, “Shekau is alive contrary to speculations, except that he lost leadership of the sect. I will not tell you where he is, but he is alive, and we talked with him not up to three hours ago, except if he died while I am talking.”
 There has been controversy regarding authenticity of Marwana as a member of the sect and its leadership, as he was recently dismissed by Imam Shekau in a Youtube video after he claimed that the sect had agreed to cease-fire with   Nigerian government.
